3. Tighten the upper handle knob firmly (Figure 19).

Starting the Engine

Important: The mower has a safety system that
prevents you from starting the mower unless you
first install the mulch plug or the grass bag securely
on the mower.
1. Install the mulch plug (Figure 20) or the grass bag
(Figure 21) on the mower.
2. Hold the blade control bar against the handle and
pull the recoil starter (Figure 22 or Figure 23).
