1. PTO—on
4. Move the choke control to the on position before
starting a cold engine (Figure 15).
Note: A warm or hot engine may not require
choking. After engine starts, move the choke
control to the off position.

5. Move the throttle control to the Fast position before
starting a cold engine (Figure 16).

6. Turn the ignition key to Start (Figure 17). When the
engines starts, release the key.
Important: Do not engage starter for more
than 10 seconds at a time. If engine fails to start,
allow 30 second cool-down period between
attempts. Failure to follow these instructions
can burn out starter motor.

7. After the engine starts, move the choke to off
(Figure 15). If the engine stalls or hesitates, move
the choke back to on for a few seconds, then move
the throttle lever to desired setting. Repeat this as
required.

Stopping the Engine

1. Push the PTO to the off position (Figure 14).
2. Move the throttle lever midway between the slow
and fast positions (Figure 16).
3. Let the engine idle for 60 seconds.
