Note: Determine the left and right sides of the machine from the normal operating position.

Recommended Maintenance Schedule(s)

Important: Refer to your Engine Operator's Manual for additional maintenance procedures.
CAUTION
If you leave the wire on the spark plug, someone could accidently start the engine and seriously injure
you or other bystanders.
Disconnect the wire from the spark plug before you do any maintenance. Set the wire aside so that it does
not accidently contact the spark plug.
Maintenance Procedure
• Change the engine oil.
• Check the engine oil level.
• Ensure that the blade stops within 3 seconds after releasing the blade-control bar.
• Check the air cleaner.
• Check the blade-brake cable adjustment and adjust the cable, if necessary.
• Check the blade for wear or damage.
• Check the blade and the engine mounting fasteners and tighten them if they are
loose.
• Clean under the machine housing.
• Clean the discharge tunnel.
• Clean the foam pre-filter.
• Lubricate the pivot arms.
• Lubricate the gear case.
• Change the engine oil without changing the oil filter (more often in dusty conditions).
• Check for leaks in the fuel system and/or a deteriorating fuel hose; replace parts
if necessary.
• Sharpen or replace the blade; maintain it more frequently if the edge dulls quickly in
rough or in sandy conditions.
• Clean under the belt cover.
• Adjust the self-propel drive system.
• Change the oil and oil filter (more often in dusty conditions).
• Check the spark plug and replace it if necessary.
• Clean the fuel filter element.
• Adjust the blade-brake cable.
• Replace the paper filter (more frequently in dusty conditions).
• Empty the fuel tank before repairs as directed.
• Change the engine oil.
• Change the oil filter.
• Clean the fuel filter.
• Lubricate the pivot arms.
• Empty the fuel tank.
• Prepare the engine for storage.
