Removing a wheel

Requirements
The vehicle is raised (
page 335).
R
When changing a wheel, avoid applying any force
to the brake disks, since this could impair the
level of comfort when braking.
* NOTE Damage to threading from dirt on
wheel bolts
Do not place wheel bolts in sand or on
#
a dirty surface.
Unscrew the uppermost wheel bolt com‐
#
pletely.
Screw centering pin
1
instead of the wheel
#
bolt into the thread.
Unscrew the remaining wheel bolts fully.
#
Remove the wheel.
#
Mount the new wheel (
page 337).

Mounting a new wheel

Requirements
The wheel is removed (
page 337).

& WARNING Risk of accident from losing a
wheel
Oiled, greased or damaged wheel bolts or
wheel hub threads can cause the wheel bolts
to come loose.
As a result, you could lose a wheel while driv‐
ing.
Never oil or grease the wheel bolts.

In the event of damage to the threads,
#
contact a qualified specialist workshop
immediately.
Have the damaged wheel bolts or dam‐
#
aged hub threads replaced.
Do not drive any further.
#
Observe the information on the choice of
#
tires (
page 331).
For tires with a specified direction of rotation, an
arrow on the side wall of the tire indicates the
correct direction of rotation. Observe the direc‐
tion of rotation when mounting.
