Chapter6. Out-of-band management instructions
6.1 Overview
Out-of-band (out-of-band) is to manage the switch through a serial port on the local, it is not network
bandwidth, it does not take up network bandwidth
6.2 Out-of-band connection method
Band management be required a terminal or a terminal emulation program, there is a simulation program on
Windows called "HyperTerminal"
First, the use of switches supporting serial cable to connect the serial port of the switch and the computer
( the rear panel of the far right), and then run HyperTerminal. How to configure Hyper Terminal? As below:
You can see that the serial port's speed is 115200 bps, data bits is 8 bits, no parity and data flow control, 1
stop bit. If the system does not have the super terminal, you can use the system installation disk to install up
HyperTerminal software again or a HyperTerminal downloaded from the Internet (such as HyperTerminal Private
Edition). Its basic configuration is almost the same with Windows' own thing, note: "The second digit" is 115200
"data bits" is 8, no "parity", "Stop bits" is 1,no "data flow control . "
