Switching impulse mode on and off
(depending on equipment)
Do not work with impulse mode swit-
ched on over an extended period of
time (the motor is liable to overheat).
Activate rocker switch for impulse function (3).
0 = Impulse mode switched off
= Impulse mode switched on
7.6
Switching the power tool on and off,
setting speed
Position the trigger-switch (8) as required.
The speed can be set to any value within its
range.
Note:The noise that the machine makes when
it is switched off is due to the model (quick
stop) and has no influence on the function or
the service life of the machine.

Rapid-action keyless chuck
1
GRIP, ZU
Opening
Twist the sleeve (1) towards "AUF, RELEASE".
Note for machines with the designation SBZ...:
The grating sound which may be heard when
the drill chuck is opened is functional and is
stopped by turning the sleeve in the opposite
direction.
Clamping bit
Open the rapid-action keyless chuck and insert
the bit fully.
Twist the sleeve (1) towards "GRIP, ZU", until
the bit is clamped tightly in the chuck.
AUF, RELEASE
When using soft bit shanks, it may be neces-
sary to retighten the chuck after a short period
of operation.
On machines with the designation SBZ...:
Turn sleeve (1) towards "GRIP, ZU" until the
mechanical resistance which can be felt is
overcome.
Caution! The tool is not yet clamped! Keep
turning the sleeve (it must "click" when
turning) until it cannot be turned any further -
only now is the tool securely clamped.
Removing the chuck

11
Open the rapid-action keyless chuck.
a Loosen the screw (10)
(NB: left-hand thread).
b Screw off the chuck (1) using an open
ended spanner (11).
Replace the chuck by reversing the above
procedure.
Cleaning
Clean from time to time by holding the tool with
the rapid-action keyless chuck facing vertically
downwards and twist the sleeve as far as it will
go towards "GRIP, ZU", and then turn back
fully in the opposite direction ("AUF,
RELEASE").
The dust which has accumulated will fall out of
the chuck.
8 Hints and Tips
Drilling
Use of 2nd gear is recommended (higher
speed).
Switch on impulse mode for drilling into steel,
aluminium or tiles, with no need for preliminary
centre-punching and pilot drilling.
Drill tiles and other brittle materials without
impact.
