Installing the Extended PTM

To install the extended PTM:
1. Support the extended PTM from the bottom (see
2. Carefully insert the extended PTM into the top library making sure the top pins are
fully engaged.
3. Using the extended PTM top and top-middle thumbscrews, secure the extended PTM
to the top library.
NOTE: If the lower pins are difficult to align to the bottom (slave) libraries, push the slave
libraries slightly forward. Afterwards, engage each one by pulling them (one at a time) toward
the extended PTM and then tighten the appropriate thumbscrews.
4. Using the extended PTM bottom-middle and bottom thumbscrews, secure the
extended PTM to the second library.
5. Using the PTM extension thumbscrews, secure the extended PTM to the remaining
libraries (in sequence) for the multi-unit library configuration.
NOTE: If you still cannot align a bottom (slave) library to the extended PTM, slightly loosen the
rear rail bracket screws for that library, reposition it, and then secure it to the extended PTM.
Afterwards, re-tighten all rear rail bracket screws.
6. You can now attach the data cables to the extended PTM. See the section on
the PTM and
Router," described later in this chapter.
