Recommended laminating materials and
pouches
·
Your Leitz HR 9/12 is suitable for lamination of most
printed papers, copier, laser and ink jet papers photo-
graphs and coated inkjet and laser papers. In order to
familiarise yourself with the controls and operation of the
machine we recommend that you use plain paper before
laminating your originals.

You may laminate with or without a carrier.
·
Your Leitz HR 9/12 comes with a temperature control,
which allows you to use standard pouches with a thick-
ness from 75 micron (3 mil) to 250 micron (10 mil).

Hot laminating

1. Preparing the machine
· Connect mains cable with mains socket.
· Set power switch to ON (1).
The POWER indicator lights green.
2. Setting the temperature
· Adjust temperature according to pouch thickness and
materials to be laminated.
The thicker pouches and materials being laminated are, the
higher a temperature is required. We recommend that you
always start by testing your laminations by setting the machine
at a lower temperature (turn control towards LOW). Before the
next trial gradually increase the temperature (turn control
towards HIGH), and try again until you are satisfied with the
result.
· Wait until the working temperature has been reached
and the READY indicator lights yellow (2).
3. Inserting the document into the pouch
· Insert the document into the laminating pouch centred
for an even margin (3).
You will achieve the best results by leaving a margin of at least
3 mm on each side.
4. Laminating
Important: Once a document has been laminated it cannot be
unsealed!
· When the READY indicator lights yellow: Insert the
pouch with the sealed side first and centrally into the
entrance slot (4a).
The document is automatically driven out at the rear of the
machine (4b).
Important: Never attempt to remove the document by pulling
on the pouch before the laminating process has finished.
· Remove the laminated document from the machine.
· Leave the laminated document flat on a table for one
minute to cool down.
· When you have no further documents to laminate, turn
off the machine.

Troubleshooting

·
Blisters or wrinkles on the print: Too much heat.
Reduce temperature and let machine cool down for
approx. 10 minutes.
·
White or cloudy patches: Not enough heat. Increase
temperature. Wait until yellow indicator lights and try
again.
·
White or cloudy patches: Not enough heat. Pouch too
thick. Check whether correct pouch thickness has been
used (see specifications).
·
Patches in margin: Document too thick to be laminated.
·
Patches in margin: Pouch too thick. Check whether cor-
rect pouch thickness has been used (see specifications).
·
Pouch stuck in machine: Switch off and unplug
machine. Wait for machine to cool down and carefully
remove the pouch.

Cold laminating

1. Preparing the machine
· Connect mains cable with mains socket.
· Set power switch to ON (1).
The POWER indicator lights green.
· Turn temperature control to the COLD position.
· If hot laminating has been carried out before: Wait for
machine to cool down.
2. Cold laminating
Before laminating check the instructions supplied with your cold
laminating pouches.
· Insert the document into the laminating pouch centred
for an even margin (3).
You will achieve the best results by leaving a margin of at least
3 mm on each side.
· Open the pouch so that the part with the protective
paper rests on the machine.
· Peel off the first centimetres of the protective paper,
and insert the pouch centrally into the entrance slot
(5).
· Carefully remove the protective paper as the pouch
passes through the machine.
Important: Never attempt to remove the document by pulling
on the pouch before the laminating process has finished.
