Replacing
the Shave Pmateand
Skid Shoes
The shaveplateand skid shoeson the bottomof the snowthrowerare
subjectto wear.These shouldbe checkedperiodicallyand replaced
whennecessary
1. Toreplace, remove twocarriage boltsandnutssecuring eachskidshoe
totheaugerhousing_ SeeFig_ 15

Reassemble n ewskidshoes withhardware j ustremove& Makesurethe
skidshoes areadjusted tobe level
Toremove shave plate:Remove bothskid shoesand hardware
includingcarriageboltsand nutswhichattachshaveplateto the
snowthrowerhousing.Forlocationof shaveplate,see Figurel&
Reassemble newshave plate,makingsureheadsof thecarriagebolts
areto theinsideof thehousing. R einstall s kidshoe&Tighten securely.

Augers
Theaugersare securedto the spiralshaftwith fourshearpins and
cotterpin& if you hit a foreignobject or ice jam, the snowthroweris
designedso that the pinsmay shear_ Referto Figurel&
if the augersdo notturn, checkif the pins havesheare&Replace,if
needed,with propershearpin& Referto the Parts List in this manual
for thecorrectpart number_
iMPORTANT: N EVERreplacetheauger shearpinswith standardpins
or fastener&Anydamageto the auger gearboxor othercomponents,
as a resultof doing so, will NOTbe coveredby yoursnowthrower's
warranty_

1. Beforeoperatingsnowthrower,checkthe oil level.

3. Cleanspark plug and resetthe electrodegap to 0.030"at bast
once a seasonor every 100hoursof operation;replaceevery200
hoursof operation.
Check VoBemts
Followinstructionsbelowto checkconditionof drivebelts every50
hoursof operation.
1_ Removethe plasticbeltcoveron the front of theengine by
removing the self4appingscrewand pressingthe plastictabs to
releasethe beltcover.
2_ Visuallyinspectforfrayed,cracked,or excessively wornout belts.
Replace,if necessary,followinstructionsbelow.

NOTE: Thereare two belts on this snowthrower:an auger beltand
drive belt. it is recommended that bothbelts be replacedatthe same
time.
1. Removethe spark plugwirefrom sparkplug and groundit against
the engineto preventaccidentalstarting.
2. Runtheengine untilthe fueltank isdry to preventgasolineleakage
in the followingstep&
