    1. Package Content Thank you for purchasing PLANET 8 / 24-Port VDSL2 + 2-Port Gigabit TP/SFP Combo Managed Switch, VC-820M and VC-2400MR / VC-2400MR48.     2. Requirements The VDSL2 Managed Switch provide remote Web interface for manage; the following equipments are necessary for further management. Workstation installed with Ethernet NIC (Network Interface Card) Workstations of subscribers running Windows XP/2003, Vista, Windows 7, MAC OS X, Linux, Fedora, Ubuntu or other platform compatible with TCP/IP protocols. Ethernet Port connect ● Network cables - use standard network (UTP) cables with RJ45 connectors. ● Above Workstation installed with WEB Browser and JAVA runtime environment Plug-in Serial Port connect ● Above PC with COM Port (DB9 / RS-232) or USB-to-RS-232 converter...

    3. Terminal Setup To configure the system, connect a serial cable to a COM port on a PC or notebook computer and to serial (console) port of the VDSL2 Managed Switch. The console port of the VDSL2 Managed Switch is DCE already, so that you can connect the console port directly through PC without the need of Null Modem. Windows’ Hyper Terminal program may be a good choice. The Hyper Terminal can be accessed from the Start menu.

    4. Logon to the Console Once the terminal has connected to the device, power on the VDSL2 Managed Switch, the terminal will display that it is running testing procedures. Then, the following message asks the login user name and password. The factory default password as following and the login screen in Figure 4-1 appears. User Name: admin Password: admin In the following sections, the console and Web screen are based on VC-820M, for VC-2400MR the display will be the same to VC-820M.     5. Configure IP address The VDSL2 Managed Switch is shipped with default IP address as following. IP Address: 192.168.0.100 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 To check the current IP address or modify a new IP address for the Switch, please use the procedures as follow: n Show the current IP address 1. On “Switch#” prompt, enter “configure” 2. On “Switch(config)#” prompt, enter “show ip” 3. The screen displays the current IP address, Subnet Mask and Gateway. As show in Figure 5-1. Repeat Step 1 to check if the IP address is changed. n Store current switch configuration 6. On “Switch(config)#” prompt, enter the following command and press <Enter>. Switch(config)# copy running-config startup-config If the IP address is successfully configured, the VDSL2 Managed Switch will apply the new IP address setting immediately. You can access the Web interface of the VDSL2 Managed Switch through the new IP address.

    6. Start Web Management The VDSL2 Managed Switch provides a built-in Web browser interface. You can manage it remotely by having a remote host with Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator or Mozilla Firefox.
