Using Windows 95 or Windows 98

Be sure to read the following notes when using either Windows 95 or Windows 98 on your
NEC Versa VX.

Installing SoftDVD Player

Use the following procedure to install SoftDVD Player.
Note
Disable power management when using SoftDVD Player.
Insert the ATI SoftDVD CD into the CD-ROM drive. If the CD does not load

automatically, do the following:

From the Windows taskbar, select Start and Run.

Click Browse to access the files on the CD. Select setup.exe on the CD and click Run.
Click Next at the Welcome screen.

Click Yes to accept the license agreement.
Click Next to accept the default destination directory.

Highlight your geographical region and click Next.

The installation completes. Click Finish to restart the system.

Updating the Video Driver

Use the following procedure to update your system's video driver.
1.
Insert the NEC Versa VX Application and Driver CD into the CD-ROM drive. If the CD
does not load automatically, do the following:

Double click the NEC Customize icon.

Select Launch Application and Driver CD.

Click Launch. The Application and Driver CD dialog box appears.
Select Drivers from the Application and Driver CD dialog box.

Select ATI Display Drivers. Double click to view the available drivers.

Highlight Latest ATI Display Drivers and click Install.
At the Driver Setup Welcome screen, click Next.

Click Next to select Custom Install.

Click Next to select the default destination directory.

Click Next to proceed with the update.
Click Finish to restart the system.
9.
The operating system identifies the hardware. Click Yes to restart the system.
