The cookingareas are identifiedby circles on the glass-ceramiccooktop. When an
element isturnedON, the cooktopwill heat up and the redglowof the heatingelement
can be seen throughthe glass-ceramictop. It is normal to see the red glow of the
element whenever it is ON.
• BEFORE FIRST USE CLEAN COOKTOP. (See p. 16.)
• For best results,always use recommendedcookware.
• Make sure bottomof cookware is clean before placingon cooktop.
• Coveringpans, whenever possible,speeds cookingand is more energy efficient.
This is especiallyimportantwhen cookinglarge quantitiesof foods.
• The glass-ceramic cookingarea retainsheat for a periodof time after the elements
have been turned off. Putthis retainedheat to good use. Turn the elementsoffa
few minutesbeforefoodiscompletelycookedand usethe retainedheattocomplete
the cooking. Because of this heat retentioncharacteristic,the elements will not
respondtochangesinsettingsas quicklyascoilelements. Inthe eventofa potential
boilover,removethe cookpotfrom the cookingarea.
• When preparingfoodswhichcan be easily scorchedor overcooked,start cooking
at a lower setting and graduallyincrease settingas needed.
• A lowersetting can be usedwhen cookingsmallquantitiesoffoodsor when using
a cookpotthat conducts heat quickly.
• A highersetting than normalmay be necessarywhen usingcookpotsmade witha
materialthat is slow to conductheat, such as cast iron.
IMPORTANT
• Do notuse wiretrivets,fire rings,pads or any such item betweenthe cookware
and the element.
• Do not cook foodsdirectlyon cooktop.
• Do notallow pan to boil dry as this coulddamage the cooktopand the pan.
• Do not slide heavy metal or glass cookpotsacross surface since these may
scratchthe surface.
• Do not use or place plastic items anywhere on cooktop.
