This document is provided as a quick reference for installation, signal acquisition, and authorization of DSR-
6402 Satellite Multiplex Receiver/Transcoders for use by Discovery Communications. For complete information
on configuration and operation, please refer to the Motorola DSR-6400 Series Satellite Multiplex Receiver/
Transcoder Operator Guide.
The DSR-6402 must be properly grounded, and the shield of the coaxial cable is earthed in accordance with
Article 820.93 of the NEC, ANSI/NFPA 70:2005 or equivalent.
Installation Overview
This procedures in this guide assume that the DSR-6402 has been properly mounted in a suitable equipment
rack with access to electrical power and the required input and output signal connections. The installation
sequence described here consists of connecting the input and output cabling and using the front-panel
interface to perform initial configuration for acquisition and tuning of the received signals.
Connecting the DSR-6402
The following paragraphs describe the rear-panel connections to be made to the DSR-6402 to enable the
Discovery services.

Input Connection
RF IN Port 1: Galaxy 13 C-Band at 127 West Longitude, Transponder 14 (Horizontal).
Note: There is no LNB voltage output from ports 2 through 8; if using one of these ports, and if
LNB power is needed, it can be activated for Port 1, and Port 1 can then be added to a one-port
power-passing splitter to power one LNB.
RF IN Port 2: AMC-10 C-Band at 135 West Longitude, (Horizontal).
RF IN Port 3: AMC-10 C-Band at 135 West Longitude, (Vertical).
RF IN Port 4: AMC-11 C-Band at 131 West Longitude, (Horizontal).
