To use the shutter-release button for purposes other than movie
recording, rotate the live view selector to C.

Choose the role played by the Fn button
when 1 is selected with the live view
selector in live view.
Choose the role played by the Pv button
when 1 is selected with the live view
selector in live view.
Choose the role played by the A AE-L/
AF-L button when 1 is selected with the
live view selector in live view.
Choose the role played by the shutter-
release button when 1 is selected with
the live view selector. If Record movies
is selected, pressing the button halfway
starts live view. You can then press the
shutter-release button halfway to focus
(autofocus mode only) and press all the
way down to start or end movie
recording. To end live view, press the a
button.
(defaults to Take photos)
