Replacing the anode
A sacrificial anode protects the
o u t b o a r d m o t o r f r o m g a l v a n i c
corrosion. Anode is located on the gear
case, clamp bracket and the cylinder.
When the anode is eroded more than
2/3, replace it.
Notes
• Never grease or paint the anode.
• At each inspection re-tighten the
anode attaching bolt. As it is likely
to be subjected to electrolytic
corrosion.

• Be sure that outboard motor is secured
to transom or service stand, or
accidental drop or fall of outboard motor
could lead to severe personal injury.
• Be sure to lock outboard motor if it is
tilted up, or accidental fall of outboard
motor could lead to severe personal
injury.
• Do not go under outboard motor tilted
up and locked, or accidental fall of
outboard motor could lead to severe
personal injury.
