SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS)

The SRS is designed for use as a supplemental system
for the seat belt, proving effective only when the seat
belt is worn.
The SRS is provided for the driver's seat only.
The SRS consists of right and left front impact sensors,
air bag module, SRS diagnosis unit (with built-in safing
impact sensor), clock spring, SRS warning lamp knee
protector, etc.
Operates only when a front end collision applies an
impact greater than a preset value to the whole
vehicle, protecting the upper half of the driver's
body.

Has a double detection circuit to allow the air bag to
deploy only when either of the right and left front
impact
sensors
simultaneously enter the ON state, eliminating the
possibility of accidental deployment.
Has an SRS diagnosis unit in which the backup
function (charge capacitor for the power supply)
against a power failure that may occur when the bag
is to deploy (at the time of an impact) and the
voltage boosting function (D.C. - D.C. converter
circuit)
against

Has a self-diagnostic function for higher safety and
reliability.
