To remove/replace a lift shaft:
1.
Disconnect the battery pack's positive lead from the
contactor assembly by following the procedures
described in the left pod section of Chapter 2: Body.
2.
Lower the deck into the lowest position using the
deck lift handle.
3.
Remove the rubber grip from the deck lift lever.
4.
Remove the seat box assembly top plate by following
the procedures described in Chapter 2: Body
5.
Remove the front main seat box assembly by follow-
ing the procedures described in Chapter 2: Body.
6.
Slide the indexing bracket off of the deck lift lever.
7.
Remove the deck by following the procedures
described in the deck removal section of this chapter.
8.
Remove the shoulder bolts that connect the lift links
to the lift shaft arms using a 15/16" wrench and a 9/
16" wrench. See Figure 7.15.
9.
Gently compress the spring arms of the lift bracket
while lifting the lift shaft out of the brackets.
See Figure 7.16.
10. Remove both of the deck lift shaft brackets:
10a. Remove the two screws that hold each one in
place using a 3/8" wrench.
10b. Slide the brackets toward the front of the mower
enough for the tab on the under side of the
bracket to disengage from the frame.
10c. Lift the brackets off of the mower.
NOTE: The lift shaft brackets perform 2 functions:
• Attaches the lift shaft to the frame.
• Acts as bushings for the lift shaft assembly.
Cub Cadet recommends that the bracket be
replaced every time the lift shaft is removed.
11. Install the deck lift shaft by following the previous
steps in reverse order.
NOTE: Do not put grease on the lift shaft or bushings.
Grease will hold dirt and accelerate the wear of the
brackets.
12. Operate the deck through its full range of travel.
13. Check the deck for levelness and pitch.
14. Test run the mower in a safe area before returning it
to service.
