The process will start immediately but you will notice a short delay
while the hot water is flowing into the coffee basket. Then the coffee
will start to flow. It may seem too strong but don't worry – in this
first stage, the coffeemaker is making the perfect extraction of your
coffee grounds for the volume and strength that you have selected.
It finishes this stage by forcing any remaining liquid out of the
coffee basket with pressure before switching to the second stage of
'bypass', in which the hot water goes directly to your cup or carafe
without passing through the coffee grounds. The proportion of hot
water passing through the coffee to the amount of water bypassing
varies with the selected strength and the selected volume. This
intelligent bypass system ensures that any volume or strength of
coffee can be produced without over or under extraction.
10
At the end of the total brewing cycle, you will hear 2 short beeps to
indicate that the coffee is ready to drink.
Note: The coffee will not be ready until the end of the total brewing
cycle, including the coffee stage and the water bypass stage because
the coffee will not have reached the selected strength or volume.
Removing the cup or carafe will not stop the cycle and will result in
spillage of coffee or water.
You can stop the appliance at any time by pressing the START/STOP
button but this will cancel the cycle. Pressing again will start another
cycle from the beginning and could spoil the coffee.
