DSL-604+ ADSL Ethernet Router User's Guide
This is to set up the rate for AP and clients' initial association.
Transmission (TX) Rates
Select the transmission rates based on the speed of wireless adapters on the WLAN (wireless local area
network).
Preamble Type
The Preamble is the section of the data at the head of a packet that contains information the access point and the
roaming wireless adaptors need when sending or receiving packets. Selecting long preamble is to ensure the
compatibility and short preamble can improve throughput performance. Make sure to select the appropriate
preamble type and click the Apply button.
Authentication
There are three options for the Authentication-- Open System, Shared key or Both.
If selecting Open System, the Access Point will be visible to all devices on the network. There is no necessary to
enable the WEP key, but it would be suggested to enable for higher level of security. Once the WEP key is
enabled, only the wireless clients with the same WEP key are able to communicate on the wireless network. If
selecting the Shared Key, the AP thus must enable the WEP. The DSL-604+ will not be seen on the wireless
network except the clients share the same key. Or you may select AUTO to allow all the clients to access the
DSL-604+, whatever the clients use Open System or Shared Key. The default value for Authentication is "Auto".
Antenna Transmit Power
This setting determines the power level of radio transmission. There are three levels for selection--100%, 50%
and 25%. You may select the appropriate one to maximize the transmission range and to improve the quality.
The default value is set as the highest value- 100%.
4X Mode
Select Enabled to get up to 4 times throughput increase over 802.11b devices ideally when using D-Link Airplus
clients that also support 4X mode.
