The following guide is intended to help you resolve problems that occur during
normal operation of the appliance.
If you are unable to identify or remedy the cause of the problem on your own,
please contact Miele Service (see back cover for details).
Risk of injury. Improperly performed installation, maintenance or repair work
can pose a serious danger to users of the appliance, for which Miele is not re‐
sponsible.
Installation, maintenance and repairs may only be carried out by Miele author‐
ized technicians.
Do not attempt to open the cooktop casing yourself.
Problem
The burners do not heat
up.
There is a strange smell
or vapors when the
cooktop is being used
for the first time.
The heating for one of
the burners turns on
and off.
Possible cause and remedy
There is no power to the cooktop.
Check if the circuit breaker has tripped. Contact
an electrician or Miele Service (for the minimum
fuse rating, see data plate).
There may be a technical fault.
Turn the burner knob to 0.
Disconnect the appliance from the electric power
supply for approx. 1 minute by:
– tripping the relevant circuit breaker or screwing
the fuse out completely, or
– tripping the ground fault circuit interrupter
(GFCI).
If, after resetting/replacing the fuse or the GFCI,
the appliance still will not turn on, contact a quali‐
fied electrician or Miele Service.
The cooktop's metal components are protected by a
conditioning agent. Smells and vapor may occur
when the appliance is used for the first time. The
smell and any vapors that may occur do not indicate
a faulty connection or defective appliance and are not
harmful to your health.
This "cycling" of the heating is normal. It is caused
by the electronic temperature control (see "How the
burners work").
If the heating cycles at the highest power level, the
overheat protection has been triggered (see "Over‐
heat protection").
