Using the answering machine

Your BT Freelance XD 5500 answering machine uses voice
prompts to guide you simply through its operation.
You can operate your answering machine from:

the base
•
the handset
•
remotely, from any other Touchtone
see page 36.
Before first using your answering machine you should set the
correct day and time. If you have not done this already when
you set up your phone, please see page 8.
Switching the answering machine on/off
Using the base:
1. Press . The machine announces, "Answer on", followed by
the current outgoing message, or "Answer off".
Using the handset:
1. Press , scroll
