Troubleshooting, Adjustments and Service

TROUBLESHOOTING

This section provides troubleshooting and service
instructions. Locate the problem and check the possible
cause/remedy in the order listed.
Also, refer to the engine manufacturer's Owner's Manual
for additional information.
For problems not covered here, contact your local dealer.
PROBLEM
Engine fails to start
Engine starts hard or runs poorly
Brush does not clean hard surface 1. Casters improperly adjusted.
Broom does not rotate
Poor traction
Before performing any adjustment or service to
power broom, stop the engine and wait for
moving parts to stop. Remove the key. To prevent
accidental starting, disconnect the spark plug
wire and fasten away from the plug.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
1. Engine switch is OFF.
2. Fuel valve is in CLOSED position.
3. Out of fuel.
4. Choke OFF - cold engine.
5. Engine flooded.
6. No spark.
7. Water in fuel, or old fuel.
1. Fuel mixture too rich.
2. Carburetor adjusted incorrectly.
3. Spark plug faulty, fouled, or gapped
improperly.
4. Fuel Cap Vent is blocked.
1. Broom Control not engaged.
2. Broom drive clutch rod slack.
3. Broom drive belt slipping.
4. Broken belt.
5. Shear pin broken.
1. Tires slipping.

WARNING
REMEDY
1. Set switch to ON position.
2. Turn valve to OPEN position.
3. Fill fuel tank.
4. Turn choke to ON, set throttle to
FAST.
5. Turn choke to OFF; try starting.
6. Check gap. Gap plug, clean elec-
trode, or replace plug as necessary.
7. Drain tank (Dispose of fuel at an
authorized hazardous waste facility).
Fill with fresh fuel.
1. Move choke to OFF position.
2. See your dealer for adjustments.
3. Clean and gap, or replace.
4.Clear vent.
1. RAISE casters (this lowers the
broom).
1. Engage Broom Control.
2. Tighten to remove slack. See
broom clutch rod adjustment.
3. Check broom drive belt adjustment.
4. Replace belt.
5. Replace shear pin.
1. Check tire pressure and tread.
