Idle speed adjustment
NOTE:
A diagnostic tachometer must be used for this
procedure.
1 . S t a r t t h e e n g i n e a n d w a r m i t u p f o r a f e w
minutes at approximately 1,000 to 2,000
r/min. Occasionally rev the engine to 4,000
to 5,000 r/min. The engine is warm when it
q u i c k l y r e s p o n d s t o t h e t h r o t t l e .
2. Connect the tachometer to the spark plug
l e a d , a n d t h e n s e t t h e i d l e t o t h e s p e c i f i e d
idling speed by adjusting the throttle stop
screw. Turn the screw in direction
increase the engine speed, and in direction
b t o d e c r e a s e t h e e n g i n e s p e e d .

Valve clearance adjustment

The correct valve clearance changes with use,
resulting in improper fuel/air supply or engine
n o i s e . To prevent this, the valve clearance must
be adjusted regularly. This adjustment however,
s h o u l d b e l e f t t o a p r o f e s s i o n a l AT V s e r v i c e
t e c h n i c i a n .
