tool kit to remove the spark plug as shown.
1. Spark plug wrench
Inspection
The spark plug is an important engine compo-
n e n t a n d i s e a s y t o i n s p e c t . T h e c o n d i t i o n o f t h e
spark plug can indicate the condition of the
e n g i n e .
The ideal color on the white insulator around
the center electrode is a medium-to-light tan
c o l o r f o r a n AT V t h a t i s b e i n g r i d d e n n o r m a l l y.
Do not attempt to diagnose such problems
y o u r s e l f .
I n s t e a d , t a k e t h e AT V t o a AT V d e a l e r. You should
periodically remove and inspect the spark plug
because heat and deposits will cause the spark
plug to slowly break down and erode. If elec
trode erosion becomes excessive, or if carbon
and other deposits are excessive, you should re-
p l a c e t h e s p a r k p l u g w i t h t h e s p e c i f i e d p l u g .

Installation
1. Measure the electrode gap with a wire thick-
n e s s g a u g e a n d , i f n e c e s s a r y , a d j u s t t h e g a p t o
s p e c i f i c a t i o n .
