CROSSING A SLOPE
Traversing a sloping surface on your AT V r e
quires you to properly position your weight to
maintain proper balance. Be sure that you have
l e a r n e d t h e b a s i c r i d i n g s k i l l s o n f l a t g r o u n d b e -
f o r e a t t e m p t i n g t o c r o s s a s l o p i n g s u r f a c e . Avoid
s l o p e s w i t h s l i p p e r y s u r f a c e s o r r o u g h t e r r a i n t h a t
may upset your balance.
A s y o u t r a v e l a c r o s s a s l o p e , l e a n y o u r b o d y i n t h e
u p h i l l d i r e c t i o n . I t m a y b e n e c e s s a r y t o c o r r e c t t h e
steering when riding on loose surfaces by pointing
t h e f r o n t w h e e l s s l i g h t l y u p h i l l . When riding on
s l o p e s b e s u r e n o t t o m a k e s h a r p t u r n s e i t h e r u p o r
d o w n h i l l .
I f y o u r AT V d o e s b e g i n t o t i p o v e r, g r a d u a l l y s t e e r
i n t h e d o w n h i l l d i r e c t i o n i f t h e r e a r e n o o b s t a c l e s
in your path. As you regain proper balance,
g r a d u a l l y s t e e r a g a i n i n t h e d i r e c t i o n y o u w i s h t o
t r a v e l .

H O W TO AV OID THE HAZARD
Never attempt to turn the AT V a round on
any hill until you have mastered the turn-
ing technique as described in the Owner' s
Manual on level ground. Be very care f u l
when turning on any hill.
Avoid crossing the side of a steep hill if
p o s s i b l e .
When cro s s i n g t h e s i d e o f a h i l l :
Always follow proper p rocedures as de-
scribed in the Owner' s Manual.
Avoid hills with excessively slippery or
loose surfaces. Shift your weight to the
u p h i l l s i d e o f t h e AT V.
