Connection facilities

Many audio sources provide outputs designed for headphones.
This output is not only suited for connection to headphones but also for general line level use
such as the ELAC complete active subwoofer. Suitable adaptors from phone plugs 2.5 and 3.5
mm to RCA jack are included.
Using the headphone output has serious advantages compared to the alternative "Line out".
First you can adjust the signal volume via remote or direct control. Second, the devices own
internal loudspeakers are switched off (muted) by inserting the phone plug, allowing the ELAC
complete active subwoofer to handle the audio reproduction alone (including satellite speakers).
If the ELAC complete active subwoofer shall be used to augment the low frequency reproduc-
tion of the devices internal speaker, of course the "Line out" interface Output must be used.
Audio sources with Multichannel-Outputs (Surround sound), i.e. DVD-Player or digital Sat-
Receiver, normally have some options for the audio output. In case you want to use your ELAC
complete active subwoofer (including satellite speakers) as a 2 CH-stereo-system with such a
source, please note:
Connect the "LINE IN" inputs of the ELAC subwoofer (see page 27, pt. 3) with the L/R-Outputs
("Front") of the source device. The internal adjustments should be made for L/R-Outputs =
"LARGE", and for SUB, CENTER and REAR = "NO" should be selected.
This way the ELAC complete active subwoofer gets the full audio frequency content for best
stereo reproduction.
