You can do the following with the Android keyboard:
Key
ABC Mode
In ABC mode, you can enter letters from the touchscreen keyboard. While in this mode, the text
mode key displays

Select the ABC mode by touching
You can switch the capitalization style in ABC mode by touching the shift key
(Unshifted) to make all letters in a word lowercase.
(One-character-shifted) to capitalize only the first letter of a word.
You can select the caps lock by double-touching
word uppercase.
(Caps Lock) to make all letters in a word uppercase.
Phone Basics
Shift: Touch to toggle between lower case and upper case.
Capslock: Double-touch the lower case or upper case shift key.
Text mode: Touch to toggle between the Alphabet keyboard and
Number & Symbol keyboard.
Voice input mode: Touch to enter text using your voice.
Backspace: Touch to delete a character. Touch and hold to delete
multiple characters.
Smiley: Touch to insert a smiley. Touch and hold to view and select
other smileys.
Next: Touch to go to the next text entry field.
Alternate: Touch to display more symbols. Touch
Number & Symbol keyboard.
Go: Touch to go to a Web address.
Space: Touch to insert a space. Touch and hold to select the input
method.
