• Do not work with materials containing asbestos.
• Do not clamp the machine in a vice.
• Always direct the cable to the rear away from the machine.
• Insert plug in power supply socket only when machine is
switched off.
• Apply the machine to the workpiece only when switched on.
• Keep hands away from rotating grinding tools.
• Be careful of hidden electrical lines or gas and water pipes.
Check the working area, e. g., with a metal detector.
• Be careful when cutting grooves, e.g., in load-carrying
walls: See notes on statics.
• When grinding metal, flying sparks are produced. Take
care that no persons are endangered. Because of the
danger of fire, no combustible materials should be locat-
ed in the vicinity (spark flight zone).
• Pay attention to the direction of rotation. Always hold the
machine so that sparks and grinding dust fly away from
the body.
• A blocking cutting disc leads to jerking reaction forces of the
machine. In this case, switch off the machine immediately.
• Caution! The grinding tool runs on after the machine is
switched off.
• Never use cutting disc for grinding. Do not subject cutting
discs to side pressure.
• Always switch off the machine and allow to come to a
stop before putting down.
• For power failure or when the power plug is pulled, unlock
the on/off switch immediately and place in the off posi-
tion. This prevents an uncontrolled restart.
• Connect machines that are used in the open via a residu-
al current circuit breaker with a triggering current of 30 mA
maximum. Use only extension cables that are intended for
outdoor use and are protected against splash water.
• Bosch can assure flawless functioning of the machine
only when original accessories are used.
Assembling of protection devices
• Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
• When working with grinding and cutting discs, the
guard 9 must be assembled.
Guard with Clamping Screw
The coded projection on the guard 9 ensure that only a
guard that fits the machine type can be mounted.
Loosen the clamping screw if necessary.
Place the guard 9 with the coded projection in the coded
groove on the spindle collar and rotate to the required work-
ing position.
The closed side of the guard 9 must always point to-
ward the operator.
Tighten the clamping screw.

Auxiliary handle

For safety reasons, is mandatory the use of the side handle
6 supplied with this product, and which insures.
• a more stable haft
• an easer handing
12
Assembling the grinding tools
• Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains plug.
Use only grinding tools whose allowable speed is at
least as high as the no-load speed of the machine.
Roughing and cutting discs become very hot while
working; do not touch before they have cooled.
Clean the parts to be mounted.
• Lock the spindle by pressing the lock button 1. Never
press the button with the motor running, for this will dam-
age the transmission system.
• Make sure the accessory is in perfect conditions. Dam-
aged or worn out accessories do not produce well and
damage the workpiece.
Grinding / Cutting disc
Pay attention to the dimensions of the grinding disc. The
mouting hole diameter must fit the mounting flange 12 with-
out play. Do not use reducer pieces or adapters. When us-
ing a diamond cutting disc, take care that the direction of
rotation arrow on the diamond cutting disc and direction of
rotation of the machine (direction of rotation arrow on the
machine head) point in the same direction. Screw on the
clamping flange 13 and tighten with the two-hole spanner
(Also see Section "Quick Clamping Nut").
• Assembly the accessories according picture.
• Before switching on, check if the accessory is properly
mounted and can turn freely.
Mouting flange
An O-ring (plastic part) is located around the
centring shoulder of the mouting flange 7.
If this O-ring is missing or damaged, it is im-
perative that it be replaced immediately.
Quick clamping nut SDS-clic
The SDS-clic rapid clamping nut eliminates
the use of auxiliary wrenches for abrasive
discs replacements.
SDS-clic rapid clamping nut and all acessories range for our
power tools can be found in a Bosch Authorized Distributor.
Attention!
Use only accessory whose allowable speed is at least
as high as the no load speed of the machine. Bosch will
not liable for problems arising from inadequate use or
from the assembly of accessories / devices or similars
out of specification, developed by third parties in order
to attend the client´s specifis needs.

Initial operation

Before connecting the plug into the any electric socket, be
sure that the voltage is the same as indicated on the toll's
name plate. The voltage in excess will increase the acces-
sory peripheral speed; reduced voltage reduce speed too.
In both cases the motor set will be damanged and the end
user will be explosed at hazards.
Tools with a rating of 230 V can also be connected to a
220 V supply.
Switching On/Off (Tricontrol-switch)
Switching on: Slide the on-off switch 3 forward without
pressing.
Switching off: Release the on-off switch 3.
Locking: Sliding and pressing the on-off switch 3 together
button 4 farther forward.
Switching off: pressing and release the on-off switch 3.
