To use the rice cooker, first fill the Water Reservoir with cold tap water to the appropriate fill line. When cooking in the Rice Bowl, add rice, herbs, seasonings, and water directly to the Bowl, then fill the water Reservoir to the appropriate line. Place the Steaming Bowl onto the Base and place the Rice Bowl with contents into the Steaming Bowl. Plug in the unit and set the Timer for the desired cooking time. The unit will automatically shut off when the time is up and the cooking Light goes out.
Yes, you can cook brown rice. For 1/2 cup of regular, long, or short grain brown rice, add 2/3 cup of water to the Rice Bowl and fill the Water Fill Line in Base to the "Hi" line. The approximate cooking time is 42-44 minutes. For 1 cup of brown rice, add 1 1/2 cups of water and set the Water Fill Line in Base to "Hi", cooking for 50-52 minutes. For 1 1/2 cups of brown rice, add 1 3/4 cups of water and set the Water Fill Line in Base to "Hi", cooking for 61-63 minutes. Always check doneness and consistency at the minimum time and stir as needed.
