Yourrefrigeratorhasanautomatic
icemakerand a customdispenser
that dispenseschilledwater,ice
cubes and crushed ice through
the freezer compartmentdoor.
Here's how they work.
Water flows from household
supplythrough dual solenoid
valve (1)to water reservoir(2)
and to automatic icemaker(3)
as needed.
Water is frozen in cube mold (4)
and ejected into storage bin (5)
where a motor-poweredauger
movescubes forwardto dispens-
ing unit.Cubes or crushedice. as
selected, dispensethroughchute
in doorwhen cradle is pressed.
When the switch is movedto
CRUSHED ICE. baffle in hous-
ing channelscubes throughthe
crusherand crushed ice falls
throughchute into glass.
Chilled water from reservoir
flowsthrough tubing in door (6)
and is dispensedwhen cradle
is pressed.
Lightswitch (7) turns nightlight*
in the dispenseron or off
*Light switch and night light on
model 1FF24R only.
. Your ioemakerwill produce
eight cubesa cycle–approximately
120 cubes in a 24-hour period,
dependingon freezer compartment
temperature, roomtemperature,
numberof dooropeningsand other
use conditions.
c Intermittent dispensingof ice is
normal. If ice flow interruptionis
more than brief, iceclump(s)maybe
the cause and shouldbe removed
following instructionsbelow and
on page 7.
Ovefillling glasswith ice and
use of narrowor extra-tallglasses
shouldbe avoided.Thiscan jam the
chute or causethe door inthe chute
to freeze shut.PeriodicallyoPenthe
freezer compartmentdoorand look
down intothe chute. If ice is block-
ing the chute, poke it throughwith
a wooden spoon.
. To help keep b!tsof icefromWing
sprayedbeyondthe glass,place
glasscloseto ice chute—butnot so
closethat it blocksoutcomingice.
. Ice shouldnot be dispensedinto
thin glasses,fine chinaor delicate
crystal-they can crackor chip from
the combinedpressureof your hand
pressingthem againstthe cradle
and ice droppingintothe container.
. Ice shouldbe dispensedbefore
filling glasswith soda or other
beverage mixes.This will prevent
splashingwhich is annoyingand
which, ifthe splashreachesthe ice
and water selector switch,could
cause it to stick or bind.
Beveragesand foods should not
be quick-ohill~ in the ice storage
bin. Cans,bottles or food packages
in the storage bin can cause the
icemakerto malfunction.

If refrigerator is operated before
water connection ismade, raisethe
accessdoorto the ice bin and make
sure icemaker feeler arm is in the
OFF

When water supplyhas been
connected to icemaker,move
the feeler arm to the ON (down)
position.

Depresswater dispensercradle
for about two minutesto remove
trapped air from water line and to
fill water reservoirautomatically.
Ice cube mold automaticallyfi!ls
with water after coolingto freezing
temperatures. Firstcubes normaiiy
freeze after several hours.
NOTE: With .anewly-installed
refrigerator,allowabout 24 hours
for the freezer compartmentto cooi
down to the proper icemaking
temperature.
