Use of
adapter
plug
(115-volt units)
Becauseof potentialsafety
hazardsunder certain conditions,
we strongl y recommendagainstuse
of an adapterplug. However,if you
still elect to usean adapter,where
local codespermit, a TEMPORARY
CONNECTION may be made to a
properly groundedtwo-prong wall
outlet by useof a UL listedadapter
(Fig. 2) availableat most local
hardwarestores.

FIRMCONNECTION
BEFOREUSE
The largerslot in the adapter must
be aligned with the larger slot in the
wall outletto provideproperpolarity
in the connectionof the powercord.
CAUTION: Attachingadapter
groundterminalto wall outlet cover
screw does not ground the appli-
ance unlesscover screw is metal,
and not insulated,and wall outlet
is groundedthrough housewiring.
Youshouldhave the circuitchecked
by a qualifiedelectrician to make
surethe outlet isproperlygrounded.
When disconnectingthe power
cord fromthe adapter,alwayshold
the adapterwith one hand. If this
is not done, the adapter ground
terminal isvery likely to break
with repeated use.
Should the adapter ground
terminal break, DO NOT USE the
appliance until a proper ground
has again been established.
Use of extension cords
Becausecf potentialsafetyhazards
undercertainconditions,we strongly
recommendagainstthe use of an
extensioncord. However,if you still
elect to usean extensioncord, it is
absolutelynecessarythat it be a
UL listed3-wire groundingtype
applianceextensioncord havinga
groundingtype plugand outlet and
that the electrical ratingof the cord
be 15 amperes (minimum)and 120
volts. Such extensioncordsare
obtainable throughyour local
service organization.
The refrigerator shouldalways
be plugged into its own
individualelectrical wtlet—
(115volt, 60 Hertz or 100 volt,
50 Hertz, single phaseAC]. This is
recommendedfor bestperformance
and to prevent overloadinghouse
wiring circuits,which could cause
a possiblefire hazardfrom over-
heating wires.
