I have 500 UTV you can turn the switch key to start it but nothing happens. I can hear the fuel pump clicking but that is all that happens. Starter does not turn or motor try to turn over. I wonder if a safety switch is bad?

Yes, a faulty safety switch can prevent the starter from turning on a Hisun HS500UTV. The UTV has several safety switches, such as the brake switch, neutral switch, and ignition switch, that must be in the correct position for the starter to engage.

If the safety switch is faulty or misaligned, it may not send the proper signal to the starter relay, preventing the engine from cranking. To diagnose the issue:
1. Check if the brake pedal is fully pressed (if required to start).
2. Inspect the neutral switch to ensure the UTV is in the correct gear.
3. Test the ignition switch for proper operation.
4. Use a multimeter to check continuity in the safety switches.

If any switch is faulty, replacing or adjusting it may resolve the issue. If the switches are functional, check the starter relay, battery, and wiring for additional problems.

To raise the idle speed on a Hisun HS500 UTV and prevent stalling, follow these steps:

1. Locate the Idle Adjustment Screw
- The idle adjustment screw is typically on the throttle body near the engine. It controls the airflow and fuel mixture at idle.

2. Warm Up the Engine
- Start the engine and let it warm up for a few minutes to reach normal operating temperature.

3. Adjust the Idle Speed
- Turn the idle adjustment screw clockwise to increase the idle speed.
- Turn it counterclockwise to decrease the idle speed.

4. Check the RPM
- The recommended idle speed for most Hisun HS500 UTVs is around 1,200–1,400 RPM. Use a tachometer if available.

5. Test the Adjustment
- Let the engine idle and check for smooth operation. If it still stalls, adjust slightly more.

6. Secure the Adjustment
- Once the idle is set correctly, ensure the screw is secure and does not move due to vibration.

If the idle remains unstable, check for other issues like dirty fuel injectors, a clogged air filter, or a faulty idle air control valve.

To correctly wire the display on a Hisun HS500UTV using a harness with red, black, and white wires, follow this general wiring guide based on standard wire color functions:

1. Red wire – This is typically the power wire. Connect it to a switched 12V power source (one that turns on with the ignition).

2. Black wire – This is usually the ground wire. Connect it to a reliable chassis ground or the battery negative terminal.

3. White wire – This is often used for a signal or accessory wire, such as backlighting, sensor input, or data. Refer to the specific function assigned in your UTV's wiring diagram and connect accordingly.

Important: Always verify with a wiring diagram specific to the Hisun HS500UTV model before making connections to avoid damage to the display or electrical system.
