oven. If you do use them and do not
wipe the oven absolutely clean, the

time the oven is automatically
cleaned.
Q. Can I dean the WovenGasket
aroundthe oven door?
A. Yes,but carefully,and only with
a clean sponge to soak the soiled
area with hydrogenperoxide. See
page 16.
Q. After havingjust used the
own, the LOCKED light came
on and I could not move the

A. After several continuous high-
tempemture bakings or broilings,
the LOCKED light may come on.
The oven door can'tbe latched for
self-cleaningwhile the LOCKED
1igllt i s on. If this happens, let the
oven
cool until the LOCKED light
goes off. Then the oven door can
be latched for self-cleaning.
Q. %Wwd s hould 1 do if excessive
smoking occurs during cleaning?
A. This is caused by excessive soil.
Press the CANCEL button. Open
windowsto rid room of smoke. Wait
Ulllilthe oven has cooled (about
~()-~ominutes)and the word LOCK
is offin the display. Wipe up the
excesssoil and reset the clean cycle.
Q. 1sthe "crackling"soundI
hear during cleaningnormal?
A. Yes.Thisis the soundofthe metal
heatingand coolingduringboth the
cookingand cleaningfunctions.
Q. Should there be any odor
during the cleaning?
A. Yes,there maybe a slightodor
during the first few cleanings.
Failure to wipe out excessivesoil
mightalso cause a strongodor
when cleaning.
Q. What causes the hair-like
lines on the enameled surface
of my oven?
A. This is a normal condition,
resultingfrom heatingand cooling
during cleaning. These lines do not
affect howyour ovenperforms.
Q. Why do I have ash left in my
oven after cleaning?
A. Some types of soil will leave
a deposit which is ash. It can be
removedwith a damp spongeor
cloth.
Q. My oven shelves do not slide
easily. What is the matter?
A. After many cleanings,oven
shelves may become so clean they
do not slide easily. If you wish
shelvesto slide more easily,
dampen fingers with a small
amount of cooking oil and rub
lightly over sides of shelf where
they contact shelf supports.
Q. My oven shelves have become
gray after the self-dean cycle. h
this normal?
A.
Yes.After the self-clean cycle,
the shelves may lose some luster
and discolor to a deep gl-aycolor.

The temperaturein your new range
has been set correctly at the factory,
so be sure to followthe recipe
temperaturesand times the first few
timesyou bake in your new oven.
If you thinkthe ovenshould be
hotteror cooler, yoLl c an adjust it
yourself.To decide how much to
changethe temperature,set the oven
temperature25"F.higher or lower
than the temperature in your recipe,
then bake. The resultsof this test
shouldgive you an idea of how
much the temperature should be
changed.
To adjust temperature:
1. Push the BAKEbutton.
2. Select a temperature between
500°F.and 550"F.with the SET
knob.
3. Quickly (within two seconds,
beforethe BAKEfunctionenergizes)
push and hold the BAKE button for
about 5 seconds. The display will
show a plus number, a minus
number, or 00.
4. Turn the SET knob to adjust the
temperature in 5"F.steps. Youcan
raise it until +35°F. shows on
displayor lower it until -35°F.

beeps and flashes, push the
CANCEL button and start over.
5. When you have made the desired
adjustment, push the CLOCK
button to go back to the time of day
display or to use your oven as you
would normally.
Note: The adjustment described
abovewill not change the self-clean
temperature.
