Taking a picture in a dark place
Using an external flash unit
(purchased separately)
The A-TTL auto flash mode can be used by using an
external flash unit (SEF 20A or SEF 42A).
This user manual was prepared based on the flash
model, "SEF 20A."
For more details about the external flash light, see the
flash user's manual.

Installing the flash
Install the external flash after removing the

cover of hot shoe.
Turn on the power of external flash.

The usable flash mode is determined by the camera
lens or camera exposure mode in use.
Smart Flash Mode

• The flash is burst out automatically in the dark
place.
Auto + Red

• This prevents the red-eye effect that may occur at
the time of shooting.
Fill in

• The flash always bursts light when taking picture.
Fill-in Red

• Always operates the flash light, and prevents the
red-eye effect.
1st Curtain

• Burst the flash light immediately after the opening
of shutter.
2nd Curtain

• Burst the flash light just before the closing of
shutter.
• Only the flash device, manufactured for NX series
automatically adjust the amount of flash light. To
enjoy the auto mode function, please use the flash
manufactured for NX models. Although the flash fires
without fully charging the battery, it is recommended
to use the flash after the battery is fully charged.
• When an external flash unit has the flash control
function, the light control value of external flash is
applied when connecting to the camera.
