4.6.1 STS-N / STM-N ports replacement procedure

This replacement procedure is applicable to all STS-N / STM–N units of the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-320
equipment (refer to Table 13. on p.
To replace the STS-N / STM–N optical modules only, refer to
The following procedure is valid for all units that are part of Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-320 equipped for
protection. Boards in an unprotected equipped subrack cannot be protected before. Use the following steps:
a) Select the Rack xx > Shelf xx > Board x > Module x > Port x from the tree area as shown in
28. on p. 111

b) Set the parameter values displayed in the Optical Carrier Modify panel.
c) Click Save to set the new parameter values.
d) Check that the traffic is OK and then proceed as follows:
e) Remove all cables from the front side of the board, unfix the screws on the front of the board in fault ("sta-
tus LED" is red).
f) Remove the unit showing the red "status LED" on and replace it with a new spare unit.
g) Plug in a new unit, fix the screws and connect the cables on the front side.
h) Wait until the automatic download is finished and the "status LED" of the new unit becomes green.
