Black & White / Greyscale
If you are scanning an image that contains only text or a monochrome image,
you use the Black & White option. To produce a greyscale image, with a
higher level of image clarify, the Greyscale option may be preferred.
However, the scan time may be particularly slow.
Document
You specify whether you are scanning a document containing primarily text or
graphics.
Output
You specify the resolution of your output, based on how you plan to use the
scanned image: for faxing, 200 dpi; for printing, 300 dpi; for archiving, 400 dpi.
Brightness
This option enables you to lighten or darken the brightness of your scanned
image. The option provides another method for improving the quality of your
scanned image.
