Using the Adaptec HostRAID configuration programs

Note: Some operating systems, such as SCO 6.0 and UnixWare 7.14, do not
support RAID. See http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/ to
determine whether a supported operating system supports RAID.
Use the Adaptec RAID Configuration Utility programs and SAS/SATA Configuration
Utility to add RAID level-0 and level-1 functionality to the integrated Serial ATA
(SATA) controller (simple-swap models) or the SAS/SATA controller (hot-swap
models). RAID level-0 (striping) causes the drives to be seen as a single volume,
and improves performance. RAID level-1 (mirroring) causes the contents of one
drive to be copied to the other drive to create redundancy, so that if one drive fails,
no data is lost. Be sure to use these programs as described in this document. Use
these programs to perform the following tasks:
v Configure a redundant array of independent disks (RAID) array
v View or change the RAID configuration and associated devices
When you are using the Adaptec RAID Configuration Utility programs and
SAS/SATA Configuration Utility program to configure and manage arrays, consider
the following information:
