Preparing "Web Service Scan"
Planning and preparation
The Web Service Scan operations are performed on computers via a network connected using
the features in Windows Vista. Images scanned in this equipment can be stored in your com-
puter. You can store images scanned with this equipment into a computer, or you can retrieve
images from applications supporting WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) Scan Driver. This sec-
tion includes a procedure for storing images scanned with this equipment into a computer. For
operations on acomputer, follow the procedure provided by your application that supports the
WIA Scan Driver.
System Requirements
Web Service Scan is available under the following environments:

WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) Scan Driver-compliant application
Be sure to enable the Web Service Scan setting on TopAccess before using Web Service
Scan. Refer to the TopAccess Guide for setting Web Service Scan.
The Expansion Memory (optional) is required to be installed for scanning Color/Gray scale
documents at 600 dpi. If it is not installed, the documents will be scanned at 400 dpi.
Installing a Driver
Use the WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) Scan driver included in Windows Vista.
A driver for Web Services Scanning is automatically installed as well as the client software of
Web Services Printing. For the installation procedure, see "Installing Client Software for Web
Services Printing" in the Printing Guide.
The driver cannot be installed if the Web Services Scan setting is set at "Disable" on the TopAc-
cess menu. For instruction on how to set the Web Services Scan, see the TopAccess Guide.
