BASIC OPERATION

■ Key lock function

To prevent accidental frequency changes, or unnecessary
function access, use the Key Lock function.
Push [FUNC](M), and then hold down
ond to turn the Key Lock function ON or OFF.

" appears while the Key Lock function is activated.

], [VOL], [MONI], [PTT] and [FUNC](M) + [
operable while the Key Lock function is ON.

■ Receiving

Make sure the BP-264 or BP-265 battery pack is fully
charged, or the BP-263 battery case has brand new alkaline
batteries (pp. 11–14).
q Hold down [
] for 1 second to turn ON the power.
w Rotate [VOL] to set the desired volume level. (p. 15)
• The volume level is displayed on the LCD while adjusting.
e Set the receive frequency. (p. 17)
r Set the squelch level. (p. 15)
• While holding down [MONI], push [p] or [q].
• The squelch level is displayed on the LCD while setting.
• "SqL 1" is loose squelch (for weak signals) and "SqL10" is tight
squelch (for strong signals). "SqL 0" is open squelch.
• Hold down [MONI] to open the squelch manually.
t When a signal is received:
• The squelch is opened and the audio is heard.
• The signal icons show the relative signal strength level.
w Adjust the volume level.
r For the squelch level setting.
q Turn ON the power.
e Set the frequency.
r Adjust the squelch level.
