Connect on demand: Connect on demand is dependent on the traffic. If there is no traffic (or
Idle) for a pre-specified period of time (Max Idle Time), the connection will tear down
automatically. And once there is traffic send or receive, the connection will be automatically on.
If you want your Internet connection to remain active at all times, enter 0 in the Max Idle Time
field.
Note:
Sometimes the connection cannot be disconnected although you specify a time to Max Idle
Time because some applications visit the Internet continually in the background.
Connect manually: You can click the Connect/Disconnect button to connect/disconnect
connection immediately. This mode also supports the Max Idle Time function as Connect on
demand mode. If you want your Internet connection to remain active at all times, enter 0 in the
Max Idle Time field.
Authentication Type: Some ISPs need a specific authentication type, please confirm it with
your ISP or keep the default settings.
Click Advance in Figure 4-11 to configure advanced settings for 3G/4G Setup.
MTU size: The default MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) size is 1480 bytes, which is usually
fine. For some ISPs, you need modify the MTU. This should not be done unless you are sure it
is necessary for your ISP.
Use the following IP Address: If your ISP specifies an IP address for you, check the box,
and fill the Static IP Address.
Use the following DNS Servers: If your ISP specifies a DNS server IP address for you, check
the box, and fill the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS blanks below. The Secondary DNS is
optional. Otherwise, the DNS servers will be assigned dynamically from ISP.
Primary DNS: Enter the DNS IP address in dotted-decimal notation provided by your ISP.
Secondary DNS: (Optional) Enter another DNS IP address in dotted-decimal notation
provided by your ISP.
Click the Save button to save your settings.
Once the connection is successful, click menu Status and you will see the 3G/4G status is similar
to Figure 4-13.
