Basics of Processing "Chip" Cards

Unlike traditional credit and debit cards, cards with embedded integrated
electronic chips called "chip cards" or smart cards are read through a
specially designed chip reader, not a magnetic stripe reader. The V
chip card reader is located on the lower front of the PIN pad. When a chip
card is used as the payment method, the card is inserted into the chip card
reader and must remain in the reader until the PIN pad displays a prompt to
remove it.
IMPORTANT: The card must remain in the reader for the entire transaction.
Do not remove it until the "
