2.3.4 DATA CARDS

WIM (WAN INTERFACE MODULE)
The WIM is a data router module that transmits/receives data to and from the external internet. It provides 3 WAN
(Wide Area Network) interfaces for connecting to external networks plus a DMZ port (De-militarized Zone).
One WIM module can be installed per system. The WIM must be installed in slot 1 of either cabinet.
• Routing Functions: Static Routing, Dynamic Routing (RIP, OSPF), Inter-VLAN routing, Multicast IGMP
• Network Functions: NAT/NAPT, Firewall, IDS, VPN, QoS
PLIM (LAN INTERFACE MODULE)
The PLIM board sends/receives data from the internal LAN, and provides an interface of 10/100 BASE-T. It func-
tions as a layer 2 LAN switch. The PLIM board can connect with the WIM through the internal back panel if it is in
slot 2 and the WIM is in slot 1 with appropriate jumper settings. The PLIM supports Power over Ethernet (IEEE
802.3af ). This means that it can provide power to any IEEE 802.3af compliant device that is connected to any of
its Ethernet ports. All Samsung ITP phones and SMT-R2000 Dual-Band AP can receive power when connected to
PLIM. When connected to the PLIM Ethernet port, these devices no longer need the AC power adapter.
The PLIM can be installed in slots 2 through 5 of any cabinet. However, for the PLIM to be a managed switch, it
must be installed in slot 2 with a WIM in slot 1. A maximum of 8 PLIMs can be added however only one PLIM per
system can be a "managed" switch.
When a PLIM acts as an unmanaged switch, it simply performs as a simple data switch (10/100 BASE-T). When it
is managed (by WIM), advanced features such as Layer 2 QoS, 802.1q (VLAN), IGMP snooping, and much more are
available.
Note: When installing more than one PLIM per cabinet the optional OfficeServ 7150 Supplemental 48 VDC power
module is required.
2.3.5 OfficeServ 7150 SUPPLEMENTAL PoE POWER SUPPLY
This module provides additional power to the
OfficeServ 7200 allowing you to add more PLIM cards
and connect more PoE devices.
• Supplemental Power Supply for additional PoE
Devices.
• Rack mountable cabinet
• Add up to 2 PoE-M PSU modules
• Supports external back up battery connection
