Building-in instructions
With the Fera there are two ways of dissipating the convection heat.
With the standard Fera (Figure 2) convection heat must be dissipated
by means of grates using a convection set (see Figure 9). The Fera
Uni (see Figure 3) has a convection box with a "cold" air inlet and a

warm air outlet. With natural ventilation the "cold" air is sucked out of
the room, underneath the fire. The air is heated up and leaves the
Fera at the top. The Fera Design mantle has its own convection
system.
This is because it is very important that the air cools the fire down.
Otherwise it reaches excessively high temperatures which can cause
the plasterwork or the marble mantel piece to crack. If a Fera Uni is
installed in combination with a marble mantel piece, then the
convection grates are often still connected in order to guarantee as
much cooling as possible. This is also vitally important if you have an
appliance with radio remote control. The better the cooling, the longer
the life of the fire. All appliances are tested and inspected with the
Uni which does not have convection grates and the standard one
which does have convection grates.

2.1
Choice of material
The materials used to convert the fire must be heat-resistant and
fireproof. Under no circumstances must there must be any flammable
material within the area of the fire. If mounting is carried out using
materials known in the industry (which have an insulating effect) such
as for example Promatect, Nobranda and gas concrete blocks, the
convection set MUST be connected to the appliance, in order to
effectively convey the heat from the appliance into the room.
2.2
The Fera 60, 75 and 105
The Fera's contents consist of:

White stones/ chips or moulded fire bricks/ Logs (The logs are
only delivered in combination with the chips).

Adjustable feet.
To gain access to these contents, firstly remove the frame which is
held fast by magnets. The swinging door can be opened by removing
the two bolts (the large ones) situated on the right-hand side of the
fire. With the Fera 105, care must be taken that the appliance does
not tip forwards when the door is opened. When the swinging door is
shut again, care must be taken that the bolts are not overtightened,
otherwise the glass may break. Tight is tight enough. Always check
the appliance for possible damage and possible faults before installing
it completely.
2.2.1
The connections

The Fera is supplied with a 15mm gas connection as standard.
This appliance must always be connected to a gas tap which
can be operated at all times.

If you have a radio remote control, you will require a 230V
electric socket earthed for safety.
•
The concentric flue has already been covered in detail in
Chapter 1 and should be manufactured by Kal-Fire.
