Removal

1. Remove the mower deck. Refer to "42" Mower Deck
Removal" on page 7-64.
2. Remove the spring from the idler and brake bracket
assemblies (Fig. 541).

3. Remove the hairpin cotter from the brake rod (Fig.
542).

4. Remove the brake rod from the brake assembly
bracket (Fig. 543).
5. Remove the bolt, washer, nut and belt keeper rod
from the front idler (Fig. 544).
