If you must insert the card into a bag by yourself, first lay the card horizontally on
a flat, stable surface, sheet metal side down. Orient the card with the faceplate facing
you. Carefully insert the card connector edge into the opening of the bag, and pull
the bag toward you to cover the card.
Never stack a card under or on top of any other component.

Replacing Flex IOCs and Port Modules

You install flex IOCs and port modules in the front of the services gateway. You install
flex IOCs directly in the card cage. You install port modules into flex IOCs. Flex IOCs
and port modules are hot-insertable and hot-removable. When you remove a flex
IOC or port module, the services gateway continues to function, although the flex
IOC or port module being removed no longer functions. Before replacing a flex IOC
or port module, review the information in Handling and Storing Cards" on page 5.
To replace a flex IOC or port module, use the following procedures:

Removing a Flex IOC

A flex IOC weighs up to 13.1 lb (5.9 kg). Be prepared to accept the full weight of the
card as you remove it.

Have ready a replacement card or blank panel and an antistatic mat for the flex
IOC.
Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist and
connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis. For more information
about ESD, see Preventing Electrostatic Discharge Damage" on page 16.
Use one of the following methods to take the flex IOC offline:
Press and hold the corresponding online button on the craft interface. The
green LED next to the button begins to blink. Hold the button down until
OK
the LED goes off.
Issue the following CLI command:
user@host>request chassis fpc slot slot-number offline

If you have not already done so, remove the port modules installed in the flex
IOC as described in Removing a Port Module" on page 12.
