TROUBLESHOOTING

Any of the following fail to light: head-
light, high beam indicator light, taillight,
auxiliary light, or meter light.
Check:
1. lighting coil resistance
2. wiring connections
(of the entire lighting system)
NOTE:
9 Before troubleshooting, remove the following
part(s):
1. side cowlings (left and right)
2. front cowling
3. center panels (upper and lower)
4. rear cowling (right)
5. inner panel
6. headlight assembly
9 Troubleshoot with the following special tool(s).
Pocket tester

LIGHTING SYSTEM

1. Lighting coil resistance
9 Disconnect the stator coil coupler from the
wire harness.
9 Connect the pocket tester (
lighting coil terminals as shown.
Positive tester probe
Negative tester probe
9 Measure the lighting coil resistances.
Lighting coil resistance
0.29–0.43 Ω at 20° C (68° F) (Y– B)
9 Is the lighting coil OK?

2. Wiring
9 Check the entire lighting system wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUITDIAGRAM".
9 Is the lighting system wiring properly con-
nected and without defects?
Check the condi-
tion of each of the
lighting system cir-
cuits.
Refer to "CHECK-
ING THE LIGHT-
ING SYSTEM".
