2. Memory Expansion Unit (ME-1)

Slide the battery release button to unlock, then pull out the battery case.

Unscrew the four screws on the rear (Fig. 1). The screw nearest the antenna is a short one.

Put your finger into the battery holder, and release the claw of the rear case. (Fig. 2)

Position the set with its front facing forward.

Open the front panel from the PTT switch side, being careful of the internal wiring and water resistant rubber-
attached LEDs. (Fig. 3)

Attach the ME-1 to the transceiver, as shown in Fig. 4.
7. Replace the case in its original position, taking care not to pinch any wires or cables under the case.
8. Install the four screws. Remember that the short screw goes nearest the antenna.
3. Programming the SMC-33 Remote Control Speaker Microphone
These keys function like the VFO, MR, and CALL keys on the front panel of the transceiver.
