Symptoms
A. Compressor or fan is not operating.
No cooling or B. The fan is operating but the compressor
heating does not start.
C. The compressor is operating but the fan
does not start.
D. Control switch is defective, incorrectly
wired or adjusted.
A. Lack of refrigerant fluid.
Insufficient heating
B. Insufficient air volume.
or cooling
C. Obstructed capillaries or blocked orifice.

Maintenance
Possible causes Checks
1. Loose electrical connections.
2. Check the fuses and wiring.
1. Check the compressor's wiring and
winding resistors.
2. Check the capacitor
1. Check the fan motor, the capacitor or
the wiring.
1. Check the control switch connections
and the temperature setting.
1. Check there are no leaks.
1. Check the air filter.
2. Check the fin assemblies are clean.
3. Check the fan.
4. Check the wiring and capacitors.
1. Check there is no humidity in the
system.
Corrective action
1. Tighten the connections if necessary.
2. Replace the fuses if necessary.
1. If the check shows the motor windings
are broken or earthed, replace the
compressor.
2. Replace if necessary.
1. Repair or replace
1. Change the setting. Replace if defective.
1. Drain, repair and recharge.
1. Clean and replace.
2. Clean if obstructed.
3. If the fan is loose on its shaft, tighten the
fixing bolts.
4. Repair or replace
1. Drain and recharge.
