Troubleshooting

Should a problem occur with the operation of the
DKR-700/700P, check the following list before
contacting a Sony representative, and see if the
remedies given solve the problem.
Symptom
The POWER switch is turned on, but the DKR-700/700P does
not power up.
The REC button is pressed but recording does not occur.
The upper portion of the screen oscillates horizontally.
The DKR-700/700P is in still mode, and does not recognize
input when connected to the DXC-930 series/950 series
(DXC-960/970MD for medical use) Video Camera.
Cause/Remedy
Check to see that the power source is properly connected
(page 16(E)).
• The disc may be write-protected. Remove the write
protection (page 18(E)).
• The disc may be full (and the menu set to disallow
overwriting). Use a new, initialized disc (page 19(E)), or
change the Capture/Rec Setup menu setting to allow
overwriting (page 41(E)).
• The disc may not be initialized to the proper format. Initialize
the disc (page 19(E)).
• The input signal may be non-interlaced. Use an interlaced
input signal.
• When using the DKR-700, the input signal may have a
horizontal frequency of 15.75 MHz. Set the "Skew Comp"
setting to Off in the Source Setup menu (page 40(E)).
The menu may be set to "Camera1", but the camera is not in
slow shutter mode. Stop sync input from the camera, or
power off the camera and change the Capture/Rec Setup
menu setting (page 41(E)) or camera settings.
