Basket Lift Installation, Operation, and Troubleshooting

Installation Instructions

The basket hanger assemblies are shipped in the down position. Before starting your fryer, install the
basket rest arms. Turn the basket lift timer to 0; basket lift rods will come up automatically when
unit is plugged into electrical outlet.
35 SERIES GAS FRYERS
Probable Cause
Loose, dirty or corroded terminals on gas
valve.
Loose, dirty or corroded terminals on

thermostat

High resistance in contacts of thermostat.
Thermostat out of calibration.
Automatic gas valve defective.
Automatic gas valve knob turned to pilot
position.
Burner flame deflector broken off.
Burner gas pressure too high or too low.
One or more main burner orifices clogged
Fryer flue connected directly to vent hood with
a chimney-like duct.
Blocked flue
One or more burner flame deflectors broken.
Pilot flame low — less than 1 inch (25mm)
Pilot flame directed away from first orifice on
burner.
Fryer incoming gas pressure too low.
Fryer's incoming gas line too small.
One or more burner orifice clogged.
Flue obstructed.
Too little make-up airs in kitchen.
Gas valve pilot magnet too weak.
Pilot generator has low millivolt output.
Hi-limit thermostat stuck open.
Corrective Action
A.
Clean and tighten terminals on gas valve.
B.
Clean and tighten terminals on thermostat.
C.
Replace thermostat. Call for service.
D.
Calibrate thermostat. See Service Procedures.
E.
Replace automatic gas valve.
F.
Turn gas valve knob to ON position.
A.
Install new burner flame deflector.
B.
Adjust gas pressure. Natural: 4.0 in. W.C.
(0.99kPa); LP: 10.0 in W.C. (2.49kPa).
C.
Clean burner orifices and blow out with
compressed air.
D.
Remove chimney-like duct and allow for at
least 18 inches (45.7 cm) between flue outlet
and vent hood filters.
E.
Clear blockage from flue.

Install new burner flame deflectors.

Adjust pilot flame to 1 ½ in (38mm).

Reposition pilot hood to direct flame toward first
burner orifice.

Have local gas company raise incoming gas to
the proper pressure.
